How I work

Maris Joseph Photography focuses on digital work, with images edited in Lightroom and Photoshop. Maris enjoys using colour and contrast to give each photo a clear mood. The aim is for the pictures to stay simple and readable, while still feeling like they have a bit of character.

Portraits

Working with people is a big part of what I do. I create images that feel honest and show personality, not just appearance. There's always a balance between control and letting things happen.

Story / atmosphere

A lot of my work sits in the feeling of a moment. Not everything id obvious, I like when an image holds a bit of tension or leaves room to interpret. It's more about mood than explanation.

Commissioned work

A selection of work made in response to briefs, including food and jewellery. These images focus more on detail. light and composition. The restaurant work focuses on texture while the jewellery work are shaped by light and material.

Ongoing Work

I'm always building on the same themes, such as identity, place, and observation. Some projects are more structured, others are just collected over time. It's all a part of the same process.
